Established in April 2008, Hakuhodo Innovation Lab is an in-house think tank that focuses not only on communications theory and research, but also engages in the creation of leading-edge ideas. It then sees those ideas through to the development of actual business strategies. As more businesses and brands seek real market strategies that increase brand value and business growth in addition to out-of-the-box approaches to traditional marketing and communication problems, they see Hakuhodo Innovation Lab as the ideal place to begin.
To glean insight into new lifestyles and business opportunities, Hakuhodo Innovation Lab focuses on sei-katsu-sha perspectives using such varied methods as proprietary future visioning (Hakuhodo Foresight) and ethnographic research. We take an open approach to each problem, teaming with both Japanese and international companies, universities and other think tanks, as well as the national and local governments. Among our successful activities are Social Innovation Consortium, a University of Tokyo-based industry-academia collaboration that examines future social challenges and solutions scenarios; and IDEO+HAKUHODO, a collaboration with leading US-based design firm and hit product maker IDEO.
In keeping with the mandate to pursue leading-edge ideas without regard to borders, Hakuhodo Innovation Lab has begun to collaborate with corporate management and project planners, as well as researchers and others involved in technology development.
